Enjoyable read.

This book takes us from the end of WW11 to the Election of Barak Obama. It touches on the major events during those years, in Berlin, east and west, USSR,[as it was called then called] USA, and England. You see these events from Power insiders and the ordinary members of the public and how it affected their lives. I found it fascinating to see these events with hindsight, some I remember some I do not. The main characters are the families from the original two books. You do not have to have read them to enjoy this book, it is stand alone. You do need to like to read a long book, this one showed 24hrs read on my kindle. The current price makes it wonderful value. I enjoyed it all. I saw some of the reviewers saying it was superficial, well I did not find this.It gave me a good insight of the times. I think Ken Follett's bias was a bit evident in places. He makes no secret of his political views, and I do think he slanted some facts in that way, but not too obvious. A good book

A great ending to the trilogy

I loved this book! it is educational about the politics of the times and the characters are well developed and interesting. I have read others criticisms of this book and people are entitled to their opinion however - having read the entire trilogy I have been so very impressed by this author! The sheer scope of the novels and the research that must have gone into them is immense. Well worth investing time in all three books.

An accurate recount of the era

Arrived the day after I finished "Winter of the World". Reminders of my time in Berlin in the late 1950s; the charming "Vopos", worse thugs than any of the Soviets, quite happy to ill treat their own countrymen (and women). A bargain buy from the Book Depository via Amazon. Just a pity that this is the last title in the Century trilogy
