Having struggled with the usefulness and relevance of the music theory taught in so many 'official' and unofficial books, this book has helped me break my mental block with this subject. The explanations are clear, useful and tested. I'd always acknowledged that I would have to persevere to get my head around this stuff and now I am amazed at how simple I now find this subject and how easily the concepts can be applied to actual playing.

Great music theory books.

I bought level one.two and three in this series of music theory books by Mark Harrison, and whilst this is a review of the first level book i expect that the other two will be as equally as clear and easy to understand as this. Now i consider myself to be as thick as the proverbial "two short planks" but mark harrisons excellent explaining of the fundamentals made it easy for me to easily understand, i would say though, if like me you're a beginner read this first book at your piano, or keyboard.
