more than thought provoking

JSF conducts research into the meat industry in America, visiting factory farms and a few extremely rare and remaining family farmers who are trying (and struggling) to do things 'the old way' ie with some humanity towards the animals, not to mention respect for public health. What he exposes is a story of huge corporate greed and secrecy, resulting in the most shocking cruelty. Never mind knocking the Far East for cruelty to animals; America (and to an only slightly lesser extent, the rest of the world) are every bit as guilty. Factory farming is a holocaust for animals every minute of every day on this planet. This book examines how this is not just disastrous for them, but also for us. This has led him to examine the humanity the philosophy and the psychology of eating animals, and conclude that by contributing to factory farming we are not just hurting the animals, the planet and our own health, we are denying what we like to think of as our very unique souls as human beings.

good book to give to friends.

A good book for veges, it confirms what I already knew really and some bits I had to skip as I'm already a vege I don't need convincing by animal suffering stories. Its a challenge for meat eaters, if you can read this and still don't care then good luck to you.

If you feel like it's time to give up meat, READ THIS BOOK! Literally the best explained book on meat eating I have ever read, used to be a daily carnivore, now can't stand the stuff all due to this book!
